The start of a new year. I hope everyone had a nice and relaxing summer. We are getting ready to kick things off for tennis. Our informational meeting is Wednesday, August 22nd, at 6:30 pm in Curris Business Building Room 225. Also, our practice schedule for the year is up.

8/17/06:

Time for a new year everyone.  A lot has been done for the Tennis Club over the summer.  Our first meeting is at 6:30 pm on Wednesday, August 23rd in College of Business (CBB) room 321.  I hope to see many of you there.  We will be describing our activities for the year, you won't want to miss it!  Click the Schedule link at the top left part of the screen to see our schedule.

4/10/06:

We played ISU this weekend. We got some great weather and there was some great tennis played. Our girls did very well, not losing a single singles or doubles match. Our males also did great; we won the informal meet 5-4, winning 3 singles and 2 doubles matches. We had some great participation and the ISU team members were very good competitors and very enjoyable to play. I'll try to schedule 1-2 more meets before the end of the year, so stay tuned. Until then, the normal practice schedule continues.

After-Spring Break:

Normal weekly schedule begins this week. Competitive practice Tuesdays 6-8pm, Social (for-fun) practice Sundays from 6-8 pm. Hope to see many of you there! Check out the schedule page for any questions.

March 6th, 2006:

This past Sunday we played a meet against Kirkwood Community College at the Black Hawk Tennis Club. The final match score was 5-3 UNI (we weren't able to fit in all 6 singles matches). Check the schedule to learn more about upcoming events, like our in-team tournament on March 25th.

February 13th, 2006:

This past weekend we played a meet against the Drake Tennis Club in Des Moines. It was a fun, hard-fought match that everyone enjoyed. The score of the team tennis match that UNI played against Drake was 21-15 UNI. This next weekend we head back to Des Moines for a sectional event. Check out the pictures on the photos page!

January 2006

Informational meeting regarding the two tennis meets listed below is scheduled for Tuesday, January 17 In the Curris Business Building at 8:00. Anyone interested in competing in either or both events is encouraged to attend the meeting. These are more competitive events, so those interested in more social play will be better served waiting until we have a general meeting later on in the spring. December 2005

  Update. UNI is going to participate in two meets this winter. The first is a tennis meet against Drake on February 11th. The second is the USTA sectionals event on February 18-19th. These meets will be played in the USTA Team Tennis format. We will have an informational meeting to describe what is going to happen during these meets early on in the second semester. More information will come then. I hope you all have a nice Christmas Break!

 Nov. 2005----

  UNI participated in a tennis meet against ISU on October 22nd, 2005. We played singles, doubles, and mixed doubles and I believe everyone who participated had a great time. Afterwards the ISU team treated us to a tailgate and let us know more things about how their club operates. It was a great time and a good showing of things to come in the spring.

   I'm exploring the option of having some indoor meets, or maybe a tournament this winter in the Waterloo Tennis Club, pending interest and price considerations. If you have an opinion either way please feel free to e-mail me.

   During the winter I will be contacting various colleges around Iowa that have Club teams and arranging meets for the spring. I will also be meeting with the fellow officers, Rob and Erika, and planning some fun events for the spring. I will also be working on various aspects of this website, so stop by from time to time!
