The UNI student chapter of

the Society for Human Resource Management

in the College of Business Administration

at the University of Northern Iowa

is pleased to announce that applications are being accepted for the

Virden Memorial Scholarship in Human Resource Management ($500).

Eligibility Requirements - At the time of application, the student must:

· Already be admitted to the CBA

· Have completed at least one semester of coursework at UNI

· Be a member of the UNI Student Chapter of the Society for Human Resource Management or of the Cedar Valley Society for Human Resource Management

Be a major in Management with an emphasis in Human Resource Management

This award is for the 2006-2007 academic year only. Recipients of this one-time award are ineligible in subsequent years.

Application Process – Applicants must submit THREE copies of the following materials:

· A completed application form

· A current resume

· An original written statement, not to exceed 750 words, addressing the following questions:

o What do you anticipate will be your contribution to the Human Resource Management profession?

o What do you hope to gain from being a professional in Human Resource Management?

o Provide a cover page for your original written statement with:

▪ Your name

▪ The date of submission

An outline of your original written statement.

Materials must be submitted to the Office of the Department of Management (CBB 231)

Deadline: All materials must be received by noon on Friday, March 9 (Before you leave for Spring Break)

Verification – The University of Northern Iowa is requesting this information to evaluate your application for the Virden Scholarship in Human Resource Management. Responses to all items are required to permit your application to be considered. You must certify on your application that all information contained in your application is true and correct. Any falsified information will result in disqualification of your application. Your signature on the application form will authorize the Virden Scholarship Selection Committee to obtain a copy of your latest UNI Transcript from the UNI Registrar’s Office and authorize the University of Northern Iowa and the UNI Foundation to publicize your name in connection with this scholarship, if you are selected as a recipient. It is the policy of the University not to release information about students without their permission.
