PSE stands for Pi Sigma Epsilon.
We are the University of Northern Iowa's sales and marketing student
organization. The purpose of PSE is to provide its members with the real
world business experience that potential employers and recruiters are
seeking.
Pi Sigma Epsilon is open to dedicated men and women of all majors of
study and all grade levels. Because we are operated like a small
business, we have needs for all areas of study including sales and
marketing, accounting and finance, website and graphic design, communication
and public relations, and much much more. A great business employs the best
and brightest people in every area and PSE is modeled in the same way.
Real World Business Experience
Sales projects like the UNI Athletic Calendar and the PSE 5k
Race will
cover how to create, produce, and market a product all while
working with a team to achieve success.
Selling competitions allow you to learn individual
business-to-business selling of a real product in a controlled,
simulated environment while competing for top awards and cash prizes at a regional and national level.
Business Oriented Strategy Simulation (BOSS) Games
allow your team to become the VP of Marketing for an existing firm and
turn a dud product into a market dominating one. This web-based event pits UNI
teams against competing schools from across the nation for the highest
total profit contribution resulting in awards and cash prizes. In 2005 UNI placed 1st, 2006 UNI
had two teams placing 2nd and 4th, and 2007 promises to reveal more
Panther success.
Connections to Recruiters and Potential Employer the World Over
Regional and National Conventions provide
Career Fairs attracting recruiters from top firms like 3M Corporation, Target, Vector Marketing, M & I Bank, Federated Insurance,
Northwestern Mutual Financial Network, and many, many more. These
companies seek out Pi Sigma Epsilon because of the history and reputation of its members being
the most elite candidates available.
New Friends, Connections, and Resources Right Here on Campus
The size of PSE's chapter at UNI allows
members to get involved right away. From the first meeting
prospective members are encourage to take part in a New Member Project. This not only gets you experience
right away, but lets you get involved with all of the other people who
make PSE great.
Firms and recruiters seek out PSE on
campus. They speak at meetings to provide resume tips, beginning
career advice, and answer any questions. But more importantly, they come to find
the most qualified applicants for their open positions and internships.
Pi Sigma Epsilon has been on the University of
Northern Iowa campus since March of 1996. That means members have
an automatic connection with over ten years worth of UNI alumni, some who even make hiring
decisions.

There's more to do in PSE than just
sales. Click on the
Members tab
above. There you will find eight executive positions that each
require a
different skill set and that are all essential to the success
of PSE as a chapter and a small business.
With that being said, however, everyone is selling one of three things:
yourself, your idea, or your product. That includes getting a job,
giving a presentation,
asking for a raise, planning a vacation with
family or friends, as well as closing the sale.
