
Numerous opportunities for students

The Northern Iowa Student Government has several opportunities now available for students.
NISG is looking for an Election Commissioner, Election Commission Agents, a Supreme Court Associate Justice and a Clerk of Court. In addition, the executive branch is accepting applications for student seats on various committees. All applicants should apply at https://www.uni.edu/studentorgs/nisg/positions.php. Election Commissioner and Election Commission Agents: The Commission is the original governing agent for the conduct of all NISG elections. Supreme Court Associate Justice and Clerk of Court: The NISG Justices are appointed to office by the President and approved by a two-thirds vote of the Senate. Justices serve for the duration of their enrollment at the university unless they resign at an earlier time. The Supreme Court hears cases as necessary to deal with matters related to constitutional discrepancies of the NISG executive or legislative branches and student organizations recognized by NISG. The Supreme Court meets regularly to discuss other facets of NISG, such as establishing protocol for student organizations to follow and developing a working relationship with the other two branches.
The Supreme Court Associate Justice must possess critical thinking skills, excellent reading and writing skills. Justices must also possess an independent attitude and should be able to work with a small team. The Clerk of Court must have excellent organizational skills and proficient typewriting skills and strong communication skills. The Clerk serves under the Chief Justice and assists the Supreme Court in taking minutes and keeping time and recording at trial. Clerical experience is preferred, but not necessary. Committees: NISG is appointing students to several seats on various committees. Students
will have the opportunity to meet with faculty and staff and be the student
voice on many issues, from commencement planning to energy conservation. All
applicants will be contacted by Vice President Jake Rudy and will be
reviewed/confirmed by the Student Affairs Committee and Senate. Any
