Senate Currently Off-Session

With the summer months ahead, NISG Senators are off-session. Senate will reconvene in the fall. All NISG meetings are open to the public and students are encouraged to attend.

The mission of the Center for Multicultural Education (CME) is to provide programs and activities of a culturally diverse nature to the campus and wider communities in order to promote cultural awareness and cross-cultural understanding and inclusiveness. The CME also hosts leadership, health, and social justice workshops.

the Center for Multicultural Education is a campus organization at UNI which helps bring students together cross-culturally, and provides resources necessary for cultural understanding. That is why NISG is proud to have CME as our featured campus orginization.

  ANNOUNCEMENTS                      

Smokefree Air Act In Effect

The new state legislation banning smoking on state grounds is now in effect. As of July 1, smoking is no longer allowed on the UNI campus, including parking lots and outdoor facilities such as sports fields. More information is available at iowasmokefreeair.gov.



Cedar Falls Flood Information

The University of Northern Iowa has released information in regards to actions that will occur due to the recent flooding in Cedar Falls and the surrounding community. Please visit: http://weblogs.uni.edu/alert/

CEDAR FALLS DECLARED PRESIDENTIAL DISASTER AREA: A Presidential Disaster has been declared. Homeowners, renters, businesses and private non-profit organizations affected by the severe storms and flooding may apply for FEMA disaster assistance at 1-800-621-FEMA (1-800-621-3362). People with Gas and Electric Emergencies are directed to call 277-8119. For people in the high ground area of North Cedar who now want to be evacuated, the National Guard has set up a shuttle with the assistance of Cedar Falls Schools to the Red Cross Evacuation Center in the McLeod Center. UNI Responds to Tornado

The University of Northern Iowa is working with the Red Cross Hawkeye Chapter and the local county emergency management offices to provide assistance to those affected by the May 25 tornado. Details about a coordinated UNI assistance effort will follow as soon as authorities identify needs for volunteer help. The American Red Cross is the central clearinghouse for disaster aid.
