Brotherhood/Sisterhood
The best way to destroy your enemy is to make him your friend.
-- Abraham Lincoln
At the University of Northern Iowa, fraternities and sororities enable students to establish strong friendships that last beyond the college years and create a home away from home. The friendships that our members make within their chapters are the ones that last a lifetime. Whether you come to college not knowing a single person or knowing a wide variety of people, the opportunity to be a part of a brotherhood or sisterhood strengthens just about all of your collegiate experiences.
You will have the opportunity to meet other students of all ages with diverse backgrounds, similar interests, as well as new perspectives. You'll meet a wide range of people within the Greek community and other student organizations. Membership offers a network of support while making the transition to college life. Sharing your experiences with a variety of brothers and sisters will provide bonds and friendships that will last a lifetime.
As a member of a fraternity or a sorority, you will form friendships unlike any found in other organizations. Brotherhood/sisterhood is not conformity because each chapter is not made up of members who are exactly alike. By choosing to become a member of a fraternity or sorority, you will meet brothers or sisters who grow to become your closest friends, those who will cheer you on when you're successful and who will support you when the going gets tough.
