Welcome To University of Northern Iowa Circle
K
Circle K is a co-educational service, leadership
development, and friendship organization, organized and sponsored by a Kiwanis
club on a college or university campus. It is a self-governing organization
and elects its own officers, conducts its own meetings, determines its own
service activities, and establishes its own dues structure. Its Objects include
the Objects of Kiwanis. Once organized, a Circle K club continues to be sponsored
by a Kiwanis club. Although the ultimate responsibility for Circle is that
of the Kiwanis Board of Directors, the sponsorship function is most directly
carried out by the Kiwanis club Committee on Circle K Clubs, assisted by a
faculty advisor (who may or may not be a Kiwanian) designated by the college
or university administration.
Circle K is an
international co-ed service organization that is sponsored by Kiwanis
International. Circle K clubs focus on the three tenets of service, fellowship,
and leadership
Service:
Service is the heart of Circle K. There are a variety of service projects each
week varying in date, time, length, and focus. We do projects ranging from the
elderly and children to the environment and the homeless. If you don't find a
project that interests you or if you have a new project idea, please contact our
Vice President and she can help you set up a project that you are interested in.
Circle K understands that college life can be very busy, therefore we don't have
a service hour requirement for our membership.
Fellowship:
We know that when you come to the University of Northern Iowa, it can be
overwhelming. Circle K works to actively build lasting friendships and to create
a sense of community. Through our weekly socials, meetings, service projects and
committee events, we strive to make fellowship an integral part of this club.
Leadership:
We want to develop the leadership skills of each of our members. We provide many
opportunites for you to discover your talents and have a chance to put them to
use. Circle K members can serve on or become chairs on our different committees
. Circle K also holds a leadership conference each year called LeadCon to
develop your leadership skills, inform you about club positions, and allow you
to meet other club leaders.
The UNI Circle K was
chartered on February 2, 2005. The club is young but enthusiastic. Circle K
provides an excellent opportunity to build communities while creating new
friendships. Helping others and having fun, it’s a great combination!
