Pedro Zogaib
Pedro has been developing Capoeira in the Cedar Valley since February 2001 when he arrived to teach Capoeira at U.N.I. as a Personal Wellness Class in the HPELS (Health Physical Education and Leisure Services) Department. After receiving a scholarship granted by Dr.Edginton, Pedro started graduate school at U.N.I. and is completing his Masters in Physical Education.
Pedro has been the instructor for the U.N.I. Capoeira sport club since February 2001 and has greatly developed the club over the years. Pedro has also taught Capoeira at Kinetic Energy School of Movement, YWCA of Black Hawk County, and to Waterloo Middle Schools (Bunger, Hoover, Central and Logan) through ECHOES After School Program.
It is excellent to know that today, thanks to the great support of U.N.I. and the community over the years, Capoeira has a hub and central location in the Cedar Valley now at the Little Brazil Capoeira Academy. The first Capoeira Academy in Iowa!!
Professor Pedro Zogaib is the student of Mestre Cicero from Campinas, Brazil. They belong to the group Cordao de Ouro, which is founded and directed by Mestre Suassuna in Sao Paulo, Brazil.
As Pedro’s students, you are now a part of the Cordao de Ouro Capoeira Association, one of the biggest martial art organizations in the world. You will be officially inducted into the group and into Capoeira at your first Batizado (Induction Ceremony) which takes place locally once per year. If you already have a cord, you must train hard and you will get an opportunity to change your cord to a higher level at our International Conferences/Batizado.
The development and growth of curriculum taught at the Capoeira sport club will be continuous through the mentoring of the Director and Founder of the Cordao de Ouro Capoeira Group (C.D.O.), Mestre Suassuna. His Capoeira group is an international franchise based in São Paulo, Brazil. The continuous interaction with C.D.O. professional members around the United States and world through Capoeira batizados, contributes to the local instructors growing knowledge and expertise.
