Financial Aid Counselor, Elizabeth Minard, has received the Outstanding Young Professional Award. The award was given at the annual IASFAA (Iowa Association of Student Financial Aid Administrators) conference. The conference was held in Des Moines on April 4-5. The award recognizes the achievements of a financial aid professional who has been in the financial aid profession for five years or less but has already made significant contributions.
A reception for the keynote speaker of the Annual Human Rights Conference of the Waterloo Commission on Human Rights will take place on [b]Thursday, February 28[/b], from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. (See the next paragraph about the conference.) This reception will take place in the multipurpose room and lobby of the Center for Multicultural Education. The keynote speaker is Randall Kennedy, the Michael R. Klein Professor of Law at Harvard Law School and the author most recently of [i]The Persistence of the Color Line: Racial Politics and the Obama Presidency[/i].
Julia Heuer has been named Military and Veteran Student Services Coordinator, reporting to Dean of Students Leslie Williams. Heuer is a recent graduate of the University of Iowa’s Master's of Social Work program. She served four years in the United States Army as an Intelligence Analyst and was stationed in South Korea, Ft.Stewart, Georgia, and Bosnia.
