A reception for the keynote speaker of the Annual Human Rights Conference of the Waterloo Commission on Human Rights will take place on Thursday, February 28, from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. (See the next paragraph about the conference.) This reception will take place in the multipurpose room and lobby of the Center for Multicultural Education. The keynote speaker is Randall Kennedy, the Michael R. Klein Professor of Law at Harvard Law School and the author most recently ofThe Persistence of the Color Line: Racial Politics and the Obama Presidency.
Julia Heuer has been named Military and Veteran Student Services Coordinator, reporting to Dean of Students Leslie Williams. Heuer is a recent graduate of the University of Iowa’s Master's of Social Work program. She served four years in the United States Army as an Intelligence Analyst and was stationed in South Korea, Ft.Stewart, Georgia, and Bosnia.
