Department of Residence now accepting summer housing contracts

The Department of Residence is now accepting summer housing contracts in ROTH and Panther Village.  Enrollment in summer school is not required.  Meal plans are optional and all utilities are included.  Continuous housing through August is available to students who have a contract for fall semester housing. Those without a fall semester contract may contract to live on campus from May 10 through August 1.  There is a 15 percent discount for a full summer contract housing May 10 through August 1. The minimum stay is one week.

UNI community gathers for celebration of First Year Experience efforts

In 2008, UNI was selected to participate in the national higher education project “Foundations of Excellence® (FOE) First-Year.” As a result of this extensive self-study, many university-wide initiatives to improve the first-year college experience at UNI were implemented. On March 5 in the Commons Ballroom, members from across campus came together to celebrate these initiatives and the individuals who have worked to make them successful. Included are the First-Year Cornerstone Class, the MAP-Works early alert initiative, the common reading, ALEKS math placement testing and more.

UNI Dance Marathon exceeds fundraising goal

On Saturday, March 1st, UNI Dance Marathon hosted its 3rd annual "big event" in Maucker Union to raise money for the University of Iowa Children's Hospital. More than 1,100 students registered for this year's UNI Dance Marathon to support kiddos receiving care at the UI Children's Hospital and their families. Together they raised $176,498.03 for the hospital! This exceeds their fundraising goal by more than $50,000 and places UNI Dance Marathon in the top 18 Dance Marathons in the nation.

Student Affairs staff honored with 2014 Diversity Matters Award

Three Student Affairs Division staff were among the eight individuals honored with a Diversity Matters Award this year. Paul Sapp and Bryant Dowd of Admissions and Kathy Green of University Health Services were presented with the award during the Sixth Annual Diversity Town Hall on January 22. UNI Dining featured as an "Iowa Local Food Champion"

UNI Dining Services now spend about 29% of their total food purchasing budget on foods from within 250 miles of campus. The purchases made by UNI Dining Services not only help to support local farmers but also the university, as some of the produce is purchased from the student-led campus gardens, Panther Plot. This local food purchasing effort has not gone unnoticed either!
