MAP-Works® Contributes to New Student Success

Between September 16 and October 11, 2013, new freshmen at UNI are strongly urged to increase their chances of social and academic success by taking the 15-minute MAP-Works® (Making Achievement Possible) survey.  Immediately after taking the survey each student receives an individualized report that includes valuable feedback, recommendations and information related to succeeding in college. 

Gay-straight alliance earns recognition from Iowa organization

UNI Proud has earned recognition as the best gay-straight alliance of 2011.  The award was giving by the Iowa Pride Network. 
 
The Iowa Pride Network awards are designed to recognize and honor the best middle school and/or high school gay-straight alliance and college and/or university LGBT group in the state of Iowa.  Awards go to LGBT student organizations that have shown a committed effort to raise awareness of LGBT issues on their campus and in their communities and have pioneered programs that increased respect for LGBT people.

Lisa Krausman, Department of Residence administrative dietitian and purchasing manager, earned national recognition for her outstanding contributions to the National Association of College and University Food Services (NACUFS).  The award was presented at the 2011 national NACUFS conference.

Six new staff members support student success in residence communities

Six new staff members have joined the Department of Residence to support student success in residence communities.
 
Residence Life Coordinators (RLC) provide leadership in the residence halls, supervising all residence life staff and programming.  There are three new RLCs for 2011-12.  Nick Landmesser is in Noehren  Hall; Ashley Fisher is in Hagemann Hall; and Chavel Aron is in Campbell Hall.
