Congratulations to two Student Affairs staff members who recently received the Regents Staff Excellence Award.  The recipients are Phil Patton, University Registrar, and Cheri McDivitt, Food Service Supervisor at Fresh Beginnings.  The awards are presented annually to professional and scientific staff, and biennially to supervisory/confidential merit personnel who have demonstrated outstanding professional contributions to UNI during their careers.

The autumn wellness fair is a collaborative effort between Wellness and Recreation Services and Human Resource Services. Numerous businesses and organizations from the campus and community showcase their pertinent health and wellness information for students, faculty and staff. 
 
The event includes useful information covering all of the areas of wellness including social, physical, environmental, career/intellectual, emotional, and spiritual. It was held at the WRC North Gym October 19.

Panther Peek visit days continue through November 18

Prospective students and their families get more than a peek at Panther Peek visit days hosted by Admissions.  Nine events are scheduled through November 18.  The single-day visits include a campus tour, an optional financial aid session, introductions to majors and careers, and lunch on campus.  October 24 is dedicated to introducing the College of Business and October 31 is dedicated to introducing the College of Humanities, Arts and Sciences. 
 

Marian Wright Edelman gives audience context for plight of children in poverty

The Center for Multicultural Education hosted Marian Wright Edelman, who is known as the "greatest child advocate in the world," October 14.  Her presentation included success stories that are having a positive impact on children in poverty. Edelman's visit is part of campus-wide initiative "Reaching for Higher Ground: Community after 9/11."

Explore career in student affairs at M.A.E. Preview Day, November 11

The Postsecondary Education: Student Affairs M.A.E. Program, in collaboration with the Division of Student Affairs, will host the Second Annual Fall Preview Day on Friday, November 11, 2011.  Individuals interested in learning more about the program and the Division of Student Affairs are invited to register for this event.
