New classes on fitness schedule include Aqua Zumba
New classes on the fall fitness and leisure class schedule expand options organized by Wellness and Recreation Services. Dana Foster, Instructional Fitness Coordinator, said returning classes have a loyal following so those classes are easy to select for the schedule.
Lisa Krausman earns national recognition for service to professional organization (with photo)
Lisa Krausman, Department of Residence administrative dietitian and purchasing manager, earned national recognition for her outstanding contributions to the National Association of College and University Food Services (NACUFS). The award was presented at the 2011 national NACUFS conference.
Six new staff members support student success in residence communities
Six new staff members have joined the Department of Residence to support student success in residence communities.
Residence Life Coordinators (RLC) provide leadership in the residence halls, supervising all residence life staff and programming. There are three new RLCs for 2011-12. Nick Landmesser is in Noehren Hall; Ashley Fisher is in Hagemann Hall; and Chavel Aron is in Campbell Hall.
Department of Residence public artwork is produced on campus by UNI students, alumni
The Department of Residence Panther Village public artwork, Bowers, is being fabricated this summer in the sculpture studio on the University of Northern Iowa campus. Lynn Basa, a Chicago-based artist and educator, was selected to design the artwork. When she visited campus and saw the technical and physical capacity of the sculpture studio, she initiated a collaboration that would benefit UNI students and, at the same time, contribute to the local economy with the local purchase of materials and labor.
