UNI Dining featured as an "Iowa Local Food Champion"

Posted on Wednesday, February 12th, 2014

UNI Dining Services now spend about 29% of their total food purchasing budget on foods from within 250 miles of campus. The purchases made by UNI Dining Services not only help to support local farmers but also the university, as some of the produce is purchased from the student-led campus gardens, Panther Plot. This local food purchasing effort has not gone unnoticed either! UNI's Dining Services were recently featured in a brief by the Leopold Center for Sustainable Agriculture and in a story covered by the Corridor Business Journal for their support of local food.
