UNI students and staff earn awards at regional orientation conference
Nine UNI students accompanied UNI Orientation staff members Monica Johnson and Kristin Woods to the Region V National Orientation Directors Association conference in Omaha, Nebraska. The students who participated included Mathew Knight, Tristan Maxey, Amber Blackmon, Ian Goldsmith, Chris Bowden, Kyra Hawley, Alicia Jessip, Sarah Duster and Tyler Avis.
Alicia Jessip won the Regional Student Leadership Award, Kristin won the Regional Outstanding Orientation Professional Award, Ian Goldsmith won the Best Overall Case Study Award, and Chris Bowden won the Best Critical Thinking Award for a Case Study.
In addition to the many students who were recognized at the conference, Kristin Woods, Coordinator for New Student Programs, was honored with the Regional Outstanding Orientation Professional Award. This award recognizes outstanding contributions of a NODA professional to the field of orientation, transition and retention.
