Welcome to UNI! Register for orientation and receive your advising materials. Coffee, juice, and breakfast breads are available in the second floor lobby.
8:30-9:00 a.m.        Nontraditional Student Meeting (optional)
If you are a nontraditional student, take this opportunity to learn about specific resources available to assist you in meeting your academic goals.
9:00-9:30 a.m.        Making the Transition: Opening Session
Learn more about your new campus community and meet the orientation staff.
9:45-12:15 p.m.        Educational Planning
Learn about major and liberal arts requirements, review your degree audit, begin academic planning for the fall semester, and meet with your faculty advisor.
12:15-1:00 p.m.        Lunch in Maucker Union
1:00-3:00 p.m.        Final Course Approvals and Registration
Obtain final approvals for your courses, and register for the fall semester.
1:00-3:00 p.m.        uCard (student ID) Pictures
Before or after completing registration, have your picture taken for your student identification card. Cards will be issued immediately.
1:00-3:00 p.m.        Student Services Fair
Learn more about the resources available to help you succeed. Representatives from a variety of departments will be available to talk with you about financial aid, career planning, effective study strategies, on campus living, health services, campus involvement, and much more.

9:00-9:25 a.m.        Making the Transition: Opening Session
Learn about the academic community your student is about to join, and gather information about how you can best support your student in his or her educational goals.
9:45-10:00 a.m.        Your Student, The University, and You
Hear from the Dean of Students about the role families play in supporting and facilitating student success. This session will include information about strategies for communication between students, families, and the University.
10:00-11:00 a.m.        Student Services Panel Discussion
The University of Northern Iowa offers many resources to promote student success both in and out of the classroom. This panel provides an opportunity for you to learn about those resources, and to identify effective ways to encourage your students to use them. Panelists will discuss academic support services, career services, on-campus housing, dining, technology and computing information, and student health.
11:00-11:15 a.m.        Refreshment Break
11:15-12:00 p.m.        Academic Life and Expectations Panel
Hear from a panel of faculty members about academic expectations, faculty commitment to teaching, student research opportunities, and other topics related to your student's classroom experience. You'll be encouraged to ask questions about any academic topic, from examinations to class participation.
12:00-1:00 p.m.        Lunch and Student Panel Discussion
Join faculty and staff for lunch, and take the opportunity to interact with current students. Learn more about life at UNI from a distinctly student point of view.
1:00-3:00 p.m.        Student Services Fair
You'll have an opportunity to learn about offices and resources available to help you succeed during your time at UNI. Talk one-to-one with University staff about topics such as financial aid, billing, parking, academic support services, on-campus living, athletics, and campus involvement.
