Black History Month film series continues February 22-24
The Black History Month film series continues Monday, February 22 to Wednesday, February 24, with the viewing of "The War Years and The Civil Rights Movement." This 3-disc DVD set includes original documentaries, dramatizations, government films, interviews, and historical footage made between 1937 and 1997. The event will be held in the CME lobby in Maucker Union.
Dramitizations made in the 1950s of the Civil War and plantation life start of the series, which also includes a Department of Agriculture video from 1942 portraying the WWII contributions of black farmers, a Frank Capra documentary, newsreel footage of important speeches by Martin Luther King, Jr., and Madeline Anderson's landmark 1960 documentary featuring marches and sit-ins.
