Outstanding student employees are honored at awards event
The Student Employee of the Year recognition event is at the heart of a full week of Student Employee Appreciation Week activities across campus. Offices celebrate the talent and accomplishments of students who contribute to the campus as employees. Financial Aid staff members plan and host the UNI Student Employee of the Year recognition program as an extension of their role for coordination of student employment.
Students honored at the 2010 Student Employee of the Year recognition event included: James Hanlon, Kyle LaBarge, Bryant Dowd, Marissa Whitney, Maryne Taute, Dawn Mick, Jenna Wallace, Jenna Schoeberlin, Matt Waldeschmitt, Amanda Carls, Jennifer Huster, Jill Wessels, Karen Dietzenbach, Brittany Warren, Joanie Shafer, Kelsey Staudacher, Scott Bushe, Kelsey Baker, Jennifer Miller, and Yvonne Walters.

Jill Wessels, a Department of Residence student employee working as a supervisor in Prexy’s at Maucker Union, was honored as UNI Student Employee of the Year. Jill’s nominators highlighted her strong skills for decision making, problem solving, communication and leadership. Nominators also said she is a model employee who is reliable, enthusiastic and flexible. She has worked in Dining Services since 2006 and was promoted to a supervisor position in 2008. Jill is a full-time student who earns academic recognition on the Dean’s List and who serves on the Honor Student Advisory Board. She was nominated by the Dining Services staff at Prexy’s.
The UNI Admissions Office was honored as Student Employer of the Year for their success with student employees. Christie Kangas, Director of Admissions, accepted the award from Terry Hogan, Vice President for Student Affairs, and Ben Allen, UNI President.
