In general, I am interested in issues related to teacher cognition. That is, how and what teachers think about mathematics as it relates to the teaching of mathematics, and how they use this knowledge in their classrooms. I expect to apply what I learn to pre- and in-service teacher education programs. More specifically, I am interested in exploring the development and application of pedagogical content knowledge in mathematics teachers. Specifically, I want to understand how pedagogical content knowledge informs decisions in-service teachers make related to creating their curricula and how they represent mathematics when teaching. Related to this, I also plan to investigate how and where pedagogical content knowledge is, or can be, developed in pre-service mathematics teachers.
