The IOWA MATHEMATICS & SCIENCE ACADEMY (IMSA) is a college preparatory program founded by the Iowa Mathematics and Science Education Partnership (IMSEP). The project seeks to increase the number of Iowa high school students who enroll in college and complete degrees that will lead to careers in the fields of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics. IMSA is funded to serve 40 Iowa high school students.
Who Can Participate in IMSA?
Participating students must attend a public or private high school in Black Hawk, Bremer, Buchanan, Butler, or Grundy County.
Students must apply to the program during their 9th or 10th grade year.
Participating students must meet minimum GPA requirements and submit recommendations from Mathematics and Science teachers.
All participating students must meet at least one of the following:
- Come from a low income family;
- Come from a family in which neither parent has completed a Bachelor's degree; and
- Identify themselves as minorities.
Finally, all students must have a strong interest in Mathematics and Science!
