Elementary teachers struggle with the question of how to meet the diverse needs of all the students in the general education classroom. Co-teaching with the special education teacher can provide some of these answers. Two teachers working together can provide differentiation of instruction through flexible grouping, sharing of resources, and planning for the big ideas. Assignments can be accommodated and alternative tests written to meet the individual needs of students. Accessing the general education curriculum in a meaningful and understandable way can happen with two teachers collaborating together. This project is modeled for pre-service teachers conducting field experiences at Price Laboratory School. It is also a model site for practicing teachers who want to see co-teaching in action.
