ANTICIPATORY SET ACTIVITY
An Anticipatory Set Activity is a specific learning activity used during the initial minutes of a class period which is designed to focus the learner’s attention on the learning process.
INPUT
Specific learning activities designed to impart information and designed to accomplish specific goals and objectives. An attempt should be made during input activities to tie the learning to real life situations.
MODEL
Visual demonstration or examples designed to illustrate an acceptable finished product.
CHECKS
Frequent and numerous questioning sessions built into a teaching presentation designed to determine whether or not understanding is taking place.
GUIDED PRACTICE
That period of time in the teaching/learning process when the pupil practices the learning under direct supervision of the instructor. The instructor during this period should STOP-PAUSE-and QUESTION students to insure that the concept or process is understood. The instructor should be highly mobile and move around the classroom checking each student’s work.
GROUP WORK
A built-in time which allows the students to work in small groups to accomplish a specified task or to interact positively with others in their group to accomplish a specified goal or objective.
INDEPENDENT PRACTICE
The time in the teaching/learning process when the learner practices the learning without direct supervision.
CLOSURE
A period of time when the teacher and/or the learner summarize the learning that has taken place in class that day.
ASSESSMENT
A period of time or activity designed to test, evaluate, or determine whether or not comprehension has taken place.
