I E. - RESPONSIBILITIES OF 200:128 SUPERVISING TEACHER
Your PLS supervising teacher will do some or all of the following during your 200:128 field experience:
- plan lessons with 200:128 students
- recommend materials and resources
- model parent/teacher conferences
- demonstrate teaching practices in the classroom
- advise and answer questions concerning educational issues and trends
- relate, when appropriate, material from 200:148 to classroom practice
- process experiences with university students either in oral or written form
- evaluate university students’ teaching performance
- recommend credit/no-credit for 200:128
Remember that, although supervising 200:128 students is an important part of the mission of PLS, your PLS supervising teacher’s first responsibilities are to their own K-12 classroom. You must accommodate your schedule to your supervising teacher’s needs rather than the other way around. All classrooms are multidimensional, with many competing demands for the supervising teacher’s attention. At this second level field experience you are expected to take the initiative to become involved in student interactions, rather than waiting for an invitation by your supervising teacher.
