The Mission of the Out-of-State and International Student Teaching Program is to:

...provide cross cultural and multicultural experiences in teaching and learning during the student teaching field experience...

Students who choose to teach out-of-state or in another country find cross cultural and multicultural experiences in teaching and learning.   Students have been placed in 40 states and 33 countries where they develop global concepts and personal/professional growth.   All teaching is done in English unless otherwise requested.   Student teachers are closely supervised through an on-site university supervisor or a UNI student teaching coordinator.

What students say AFTER their experience:

"I am different because I am not a casual observer--I have torched my presumptions, reset my inhibitions, and actually lived among the Navajo--teaching their children and participating in a culture of tradition and dignity that is as complex as it is majestic."

Taryn Stein, Arizona, Fall 2005

"I am fully pleased with my experience here at St. Croix Country Day School, and I learned much more about life than just school.   When life is focused on one common goal without distractions it can be quite fulfilling.   I learned my students will always teach me more than I could ever teach them."

Chad Lang, Virgin Islands, Fall 2004

"I feel like I was really challenged in Austrailia. I had the opportunity to see how education is looked at in another culture, and then got to dive into that culture and teach within it. I relied on myself and it really felt good."

Jamie Dietrich, Australia, Fall 2003
