For Department Heads: SIS update #6

Advance registration in the new SIS for fall term begins tomorrow! Thanks to all for the efforts to date to make this possible.  Here are a couple of updates:

User capacity for new SIS successfully tested

As part of the process of preparing for advance registration in the new SIS, the project team recently performed a series of "stress" tests to see how the new system would handle demands placed on it.  The most recent tests show that the new system will handle up to 4,000 concurrent users; the current SIS handles 300.

Additional training sessions scheduled for "helping students register"
All of the eight training sessions on course registrations were filled, so additional sessions are scheduled.  These sessions will allow participants to learn how students register for classes in the new SIS so that they (the participants) will be able to assist students if called upon.  In addition to those previously invited, we are also adding an invitation to all clerical merit staff in academic department offices. These sessions will be on Wednesday, April 6 from 8:30 am to 10 am in ITTC 138 and on Thursday, April 7 from 1 pm to 2:30 pm in ITTC 136.  Sign up here.

Flyer available to provide to students needing registration help
We've developed a flyer that you can print off at your department and hand to students who need help in registering for classes.  The flyer tells students how to access help online and also includes the schedule for face-to-face help sessions that we are offering in Maucker and Gilchrist.  The flyers are four-per-page, so after printing out they will need to be cut.  Click here to access either a black-and-white or a color version of the flyer.

Face-to-face help sessions scheduled for students
Help sessions for students will begin April 5.  They will occur Monday through Friday, 8 am to 5 pm, outside the Registrar's Office in Gilchrist through April 22.  In addition, sessions will be held 10 am to 2 pm at Maucker Union on April 5, 7, 12 and 18.
