Present such facts as are needed to establish the importance of the problem your petition addresses and to indicate its present status: 

Whereas, student outcome assessment is an important curricular issue; and, Whereas the Assessment Academy is  developing assessment techniques for the Liberal Arts Core, 

Clearly indicate the action you wish the Senate to take relative to your petition, beginning with the phrase, "Therefore, be it resolved....": 

Therefore, be it resolved that the Senate invite Associate Provost Michael Licari to the March 26, 2012 Senate meeting to consult on the Assessment Academy's progress so far, its plans for the next academic year, and the role of faculty in designing and carrying out assessment of the Liberal Arts Core.
