This webquest is designed for students in grades 7-8.
The content area is United States history and is based
on the following standards and benchmarks pertaining to this grade level.
ERA
Expansion and Reform 1801-1861
Students will develop an understanding of the United States territorial expansion between 1801-1861, and how it affected relations with external powers and Native Americans.Benchmarks addressed include:
- Understanding the short-term political and long-term cultural impacts of the Louisiana Purchase
- Understanding how early state and federal policies influenced Native American tribes
- Understanding the social and political impact of the idea of Manifest Destiny
- Understanding the significance of the Lewis and Clark Expedition
- Understanding the major events of U.S. foreign policy during the 19th century
