Process
To get a better understanding of genetics, you
will complete a series of activities. The first two activities
are seperate and the last two activities are connected into one long
activity. These activities will give you a brief understanding of
genetics. They will tell about the important people of genetics,
events in genetic history, as well as Punnet squares. These
activities will also touch on DNA fingerprinting and the mysterious
event surrounding the historic Anna Anderson.
Activity 1
In the first activity you will learn who the father of genetics
is. Also in this activity you will learn some basic terms
associated with genetics. This knowledge will be beneficial in
the subsequent activities. Click on activity one above to begin
the activity.
Activity 2
After completing activity one and learning about genetics in general,
now it is time to learn about Punnet squares. In the second
activity you will learn the history of the Punnet square, who came up
with the Punnet square, some key terms associated with it, and finally
you will determine if it is possible to create a white flower from two
purple flowers. Click on activity two above, to begin activity
two.
Activity 3
After completing the first two activities, you will then proceed on to
the third activity. Activities three and four are together.
For the third activity, you will read about fingerprinting and find out
how fingerprinting is used to solve crimes. You will then read
and research about Anna Anderson. After finding out about Anna
Anderson, as a group, you will have to give a TV broadcast of what you
found out about the case involving Anna Anderson. Click on
activity three above to begin the activity now.
