Intro:  This week's feature- Anna Anderson: Grand Duchess or fraud?
(tune in at 5pm CST for investigative report)

Task: You are an investigative reporter and will be writing the script for the Evening Report on national TV news. The long-debated controversy over Anna Anderson's true identity is drawing to a close today as DNA results are being released by scientists in a press conference to be held at 5:30 CST.

Process: You will investigate sources (AKA: resources) to uncover the facts surrounding the Romanov murders, Anna Anderson's claims to be Anastasia, and the DNA fingerprinting process that will reveal her identity. As all great investigative reporters, you will take careful notes, because you are more concerned with accuracy than creative presentation. Remember, the public does not understand DNA fingerprinting and will be relying on you to explain this concept in layman's terms.

There will be three parts to your Evening Report:

1) For those of you who haven't been tuning in to this story so far...
    (historical background)

2) We want to give you an idea what's going on inside the laboratory right now...
(Explain DNA fingerprinting, and tell the public what DNA evidence is being used in Anderson's case.)

3) Scientists have just revealed in a press conference that...
(Results of DNA test and wrapping up of loose ends)

Resources:
Evaluation: Group will be evaluated based on accuracy of historical information and accuracy of their definition of DNA fingerprinting.

Conclusion: Now you should know how the DNA fingerprinting process works and how it is influential in solving real life mysteries.
