Translating a Tessellation

For this task, you will be creating a different type of tessellation by using a translation. So instead of using a normal polygon shape, you get to create your own! Here is what you do:

Step 1
Start by drawing a square (this should at least 2" x 2").
Step 2
Next, cut a wavy or jagged line on the top of your square and on one side. Overall, you should have made two cuts on sides next to each other.
Step 3
Now, take those pieces you cut off and tape them on the OPPOSITE side of the square from which you made the cut.
Step 4
Finally, trace this unique shape over and over, again, leaving no gaps. If you really want to be really creative, make each shape into a different monster, fish or anything you can imagination your shape to be. For fun, you might have one of your classmates finish tessellating and coloring your shapes for you and you doing the same to his or hers.
