The country of Greece has been a rich source for early governmental systems.  The city-states of Athens and Sparta were very different in nature.  You could even characterize the differences between the two city-states as "night and day."  As an explorer, you will be taking a trip to both Athens and Sparta so that you are better able to understand how their governments worked and how they influenced our governmental systems of today.

Your job is to research the different forms of government that ran Athens and Sparta.  You must use a variety of research methods and resources to figure out how each of these societies lived and prospered under their respective governments.  Find similarities, differences, and reasons that one ran more efficiently than the other.  Whose form of government ended up being the building block for American society?  Take notes and then record this in your journal entry at the end of the day.  Good luck and have a great trip!
