We want YOU to bring the 1800s to the 20th century.  You are to create a character profile of a person in the mid 1800s era.  Then you will get to "show off" and tell about your life from back then.  Be creative and have fun!

Using the WebQuest as a resource, the students will develop a character profile of one of the 4 social classes of their choosing.  They are to prepare their story as if they were telling an audience what "A Day in the Life..." of a person such as them would be like.  Students will be working collaboratively as well as independently.  The students will perform it live in front of the class.

This lesson was developed using the mcrel.org standards as a guideline.  We used the 8th grade Central Middle School social studies textbook, textbooks from the University of Northern Iowa's IRTS laboratory, and various internet resources to help gather information in regards to the 1800s era.
