A sincere thank you goes out to all who participated in the 2009 conference as an attendee, awardee, presenter, and/or moderator. PRE-CONFERENCE INFORMATION

The Office of Sponsored Programs is pleased to announce that UNI will host a 2009 Interdisciplinary Research Symposium, a full day conference that will highlight the wide variety of research that is taking place at UNI as well as inspire and enhance the ability of participants to collaborate with others in planning and carrying out research projects.  There are two target audiences for the conference:  1)  All UNI faculty and research staff; and 2) All Iowa state agency staff and administrators who hold an interest in research that supports their work.  The theme of the conference is "Get Connected. Make an Impact."  It will be held from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., Friday, Feb. 13, in the UNI Maucker Union.  An exciting and dynamic keynote speaker, Michael Crow, President of Arizona State University, has agreed to share his ideas and experience in collaboration and innovation.  In addition, various panels, poster presentations, and break-out sessions will offer information on how to set up and maintain collaborations and provide examples of successful collaborative research efforts among UNI faculty and staff, state agencies in Iowa, and the community.

Call for Poster Presentations

Conference organizers have announced a targeted call for applications to UNI faculty and staff to provide a poster presentation at the UNI 2009 Interdisciplinary Research Symposium on February 13, 2009.  The purpose of the poster session will be to showcase research and creative activities that UNI faculty and staff are involved in, and to promote collaboration and interdisciplinary efforts by informing others about research in progress and/or stimulating discussion about possible collaborative endeavors.  Thus, presenters may offer a poster presentation on any topic involving their own research or other creative activity. In addition, although not a requirement, presenters are encouraged to consider ways to depict the process or skills involved in establishing or implementing a collaborative project, and to actually co-present their poster with one or more of their partners in the project.  Students are welcome to assist and participate as well, but the session and conference overall are intended to be for and about faculty and staff researchers and their professional partners, and thus a faculty or staff member must be the primary presenter.   All conference attendees are eligible to propose a poster presentation, although UNI faculty and staff are being specifically targeted for the session.
