Corporate Research and Development (R&D)

The Corporate Research and Development program is designed to bring together business and academia to enhance company development goals while gaining access to university expertise and student talent.

What type of research?

Corporate Research and Development projects include product development or enhancement, market analysis and identifying solutions to a specific company problem.

Who will I work with?

At the start of the project, a qualified team comprised of a Principal Investigator (faculty member), graduate students and/or undergraduates will be identified based on your project needs.

What about Intellectual Property?

Under the Corporate Research and Development agreement, the company receives ownership of any IP in most circumstances. There are certain instances where this would not be amenable, such as when work of interest would infringe upon existing UNI IP.  UNI will retain the right to publish and use for educational and internal research purposes.

How long will it take?

UNI is committed to meeting the agreed-upon expectations specified in the contract award.

What’s the cost?

UNI offers competitive fixed pricing for Corporate Research and Development assignments. If you are interested in the Corporate Research and Development program, please contact Christy Twait in the Office of Sponsored Programs at 319-273-3217 to discuss your project needs.
