Major Kristy Rose
She deployed with the unit to Iraq during OIF I, after returning she took Command as it reorganized into the 1555th Quartermaster Water Purification and Distribution Company. After completing command, MAJ Rose began working for the Iowa National Guard Full-time, as an active duty officer, she served as the Officer in Charge of the Recruit Sustainment Program (RSP) for the state of Iowa from 2006 to 2009.
During this time, MAJ Rose completed her Master’s Degree in Education, while also completing the following military courses: Combined Arms Exercise, Support Operations and Human Resource Management Qualification. MAJ Rose was then assigned to the 334th Brigade Support Battalion (BSB) as the Battalion S1, Administrative Officer. She deployed with the BSB to Afghanistan as part of the Iowa National Guard’s 2nd Brigade Combat Teams mobilization.
After returning from Afghanistan in 2011, MAJ Rose was immediately assigned to UNI ROTC. She currently serves as an instructor for two Military Science classes, Leadership and Personal Development and Introduction to Tactical Leadership. She also manages the ROTC social media sites and assists in the enrollment and scholarship processing of students. MAJ Rose is currently a student at UNI, working to complete her Doctorate in Education Leadership.
Her military Awards include: Bronze Star Medal, Meritorious Service Medal, Army Commendation Medal (2nd Award), Army Achievement Medal , Army Reserve Components Achievement Ribbon (4th Award), National Defense Service Ribbon, Afghanistan Campaign Ribbon (w/star), Iraq Campaign Ribbon (w/2 stars), Global War on Terrorism Service Ribbon, Armed Forces Reserve Ribbon (w/ M Device and Hour Glass), Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon, NATO ISAF Ribbon, Iowa National Guard Leadership Ribbon with Torch, and the Iowa National Guard State Service Ribbon (2nd Award).
