APMS: CPT Snook


CPT Warren D. Snook is the son of CW4 David and Mrs. Marcia Snook.  He is a native of La
Porte City, Iowa.  Captain Snook graduated from Northern Iowa University with a Bachelor of
Arts, Liberal Studies. He attended the Field Artillery Officer Basic Course at Fort Sill, OK in 2000.  His military education includes: M198 Cannon Crewmember Course (USMC), Field  Artillery Officer Basic Course, Captains Career Course, and the United States Army Air Assault and Airborne Schools.

Captain Snook began his military service and Redleg career upon graduating high school in 1993 as an Enlisted Member in the United States Marine Corps Reserve and served as a cannon crewmember and section chief of D Battery 2/14 USMCR until 1997.  Captain Snook’s first assignment as an Army Officer was with F-TAB (Target Acquisition Battery) in the Division Artillery of the 2nd Infantry Division at Camp Stanley Korea, from 2000-2001.  There he served as the Battery’s Executive Officer.  His next assignment was with Bravo Battery, 2-320th FAR, 101st Airborne Division as the Fire Direction Officer, and deployed in that position in March 2003 in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom. During his deployment he also  served as the Company Fire Support Officer for C Company 1-327th Infantry Regiment and as a Battle Captain and Battalion Fire Support Officer for 2-320th FAR.  Upon Graduation of the Captains Career Course in March 2005, he was assigned to Ft. Bragg with 2-319th AFAR, 82nd Airborne Division and served as the both the Battalion’s S4 and the Battalion Fire Direction Officer deploying in September of 2005 in support of Katrina relief efforts in New Orleans Louisiana.  Captain Snook again deployed in May 2006 as part of a MiTT (Military Training) Team, and served as the Fires Advisor and the S3, and trained the 5th Division of the Iraqi Army in Fallujah for 8 months and the 7th Division of the Iraqi National Police for 4 months in Baghdad. CPT Snook was assigned to the 3rd Battalion 27th Field Artillery (HIMARS) upon returning from Iraq he was selected to command Alpha Battery 3-27 FAR (HIMARS) and deployed in support of the Global War on Terrorism. Upon completion of command, CPT returned to Iowa to and assumed the APMS position at the University of Dubuque.

Captain Snook’s Awards include the Bronze Star Medal, 3 Army Commendation Medals, Selected Marine Corps Reserve Medal, 2 National Defense Service Medals, the Iraqi Campaign Medal, the Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary medal, the Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, the Korea Defense Service Medal, the Humanitarian Service Medal, the Navy Arctic Service Ribbon, the Army Service Ribbon, the Overseas Service Ribbon, the Combat Action Badge, the Parachutist Badge, and the Air Assault Badge.
Captain Snook is married to the former Amanda Celeste Scalese.
