Located in the College of Humanities, Arts and Sciences, the School of Music is regarded as one of the finest music programs in the Midwest and is accredited by the National Association of Schools of Music.
With more than 200 concerts and events scheduled each academic year, students, parents, alumni and community members are sure to find a School of Music event that suits their musical taste. Visit the School of Music facilities in the recently renovated, state-of-the-art music building Russell Hall, or the stunning Gallagher-Bluedorn Performing Arts Center.
The UNI campus features many large outdoor sculptures, many as a result of Iowa Code 304A.10, which requires that one half of one percent of the budget for new or significantly renovated state buildings be devoted to the purchase of works of art.
Over the last thirty years, local and nationally-known artists have worked in various media to produce the large pieces scattered around campus. The installation of some pieces has provoked storms of critical reaction. Other pieces seemed to fit so well into the landscape that few people noticed them.
