| Panther Parent is UNI's e-newsletter for parents and guardians. Panther Parent comes out three times per semester and features university events, deadlines and tips from the UNI Parents Association. Aug. 27, 2007 PANTHER PARENT - SPECIAL EDITION President Allen is seeking comments on the issue of arming university public safety officers. The vice presidents of business and finance and the public safety directors at the three state universities have submitted recommendations to the university presidents that sworn and certified university police officers be authorized to carry firearms as standard equipment. Arming would be subject to stringent training and firearms recertification requirements. UNI PARENTS ASSOCIATION All parents/guardians of UNI students are automatically members of the parents association, which works as an advocacy group.
