Cancelled: Visiting Artist Workshop Feb. 18 & 19

Figurative ceramic sculptor Kelly Garrett Rathbone will be a visiting artist in the Department of Art. Rathbone will demonstrate how she makes her artwork from 9:30 a.m. to noon, Tuesday and Wednesday, Feb. 18 and 19; from 2 to 5 p.m., Feb. 18; and from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m., Feb. 19, in 126 KAB. She will lecture about her work at 7 p.m., Feb. 18, in 111 KAB.

Film discussion: Black Masculinities in Comics

Rod Library will host a film discussion at 7 p.m., Wednesday, Feb. 12, in 324 LIB. "White Scripts and Black Supermen: Black Masculinities in Comics," is a documentary that explores how black men are represented in comic books through the course of time.  Following the film, Sade Barfield, communication studies, will lead a discussion.

Protect students from sexual assault: public listening sessions

UNI students can participate in a series of virtual, public listening sessions focusing on how schools can prevent sexual assault and better respond when it happens. The first listening session, Students and Survivors, will be from 3 to 4 p.m., Wednesday, Feb. 12. Two additional Students and Survivors sessions will be from 6 to 7 p.m., Thursday, Feb. 20, and 4 to 5 p.m., Tuesday, Feb. 25. To register, visit the public listening session website.

Blind date with a book at the Rod Library

The Rod Library will offer a fun reading promotion called Blind Date with a Book Feb. 10 through 21. Readers are invited to check out a book wrapped in brown paper, take it home, unwrap it and read it. Visit the library to pick out a book for your very own blind date.

15th Annual White Privilege Conference

The White Privilege Conference provides a challenging and collaborative experience with campuses and communities working toward diversity inclusion and social justice. Expect heavy traffic Friday on Hudson Road

Luke Bryan will perform in the UNI-Dome at 7 p.m. Friday, Feb. 7. Heavy traffic should be expected beginning at 5:30 p.m. on Hudson Road and areas of west campus. Staff are encouraged to avoid Hudson Road when leaving campus for the day; consider using University Avenue, College Street or any other eastern route.

Baker parking lot to close

The HC and service parking lot directly south of Baker Hall will be closed starting in early February. HC parking stalls are available in the Gilchrist A lot. When the site is restored in the fall of 2014, the HC lot will reopen in the present location. Contact Steve Pavelec at 273-6165 with any questions or concerns.

Diversity Inclusion lectures

Award-winning documentary filmmaker Byron Hurt will show two of his films in Lang Auditorium. "Hip-Hop: Beyond Beats and Rhymes," a documentary on gender roles in hip-hop and rap music will be shown at 6:30 p.m., Tuesday, Feb. 11; "Soul Food Junkies," which explores the food and culture of the American South, will show at 6:30 p.m., Wednesday, Feb. 12. Personal/baby care items donation drive Jan. 27-31

The UNI United Way committee will collect personal care (shampoo, soap, deoderent, shaving items, etc.) and baby care (diapers, wipes, baby soaps, lotions, etc.) items Jan. 27 through 31 to benefit local nonprofit organizations. Donations can be dropped off at the following locations: COE main lobby, 2nd floor; 5 CBB; 027 GIL; Essentials in MAU; 010 RDC; and the Alumni House. Donations also will be accepted at the UNI men's basketball game on Jan. 29. To arrange for a pick up of donations, call Jess Betts at 273-3851.

The Service and Leadership Council is hosting a meal-packaging event on Martin Luther King Jr. Day of Service from 10 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., Jan. 20, in Maucker Union. Paper W-2s for all other employees should be mailed approximately Jan. 17. On this site are links to listings of campus offices, including phone numbers, mail code and address; a listing of personnel by office/department; and an interactive university organizational chart. Apply/renew U.S. passports at International Opportunities Fair

Learn about programs in more than 60 countries at the International Opportunities Fair from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., Wednesday, Jan. 22, in the Ballroom, MAU.
