Visiting artist Lisa Orr workshop Feb. 5 & 6

Visiting artist and potter Lisa Orr from Austin, Texas will demonstrate her pottery techniques in the Ceramics Lab, 126 KAB, from 9:30 a.m. to noon and 1:30 to 4:30 p.m., Tuesday and Wednesday, Feb. 5 and 6. She will lecture about her artwork at 7 p.m., Tuesday, Feb. 5, in the Art Auditorium, Room 111. The event is open to public.

Panther Caucus - UNI teaching grads sought worldwide

More than 132 schools and 750 teachers will participate in the annual UNI Overseas Recruiting Fair Feb. 1 through 3 at the Five Sullivan Brothers Convention Center in Waterloo. Earth Week Photo Contest

The Earth Week Photo Contest is open to all UNI faculty, staff and students. Individuals can submit up to two photos pertaining to Earth Day (wildlife, landscapes, natural scenes, etc.). Please include a short, one-sentence caption describing how the photo is relevant to Earth Day. Town Hall Meeting on Diversity - Save the Date

The University's Annual Diversity Town Hall will be from 2 to 4:30 p.m., Wednesday, Feb. 20, in the Old Central Ballroom, MAU. A Diversity Fair will precede the event from 1 to 2 p.m., in the ballroom. This year's speaker is James Bonilla, associate professor in the School of Business at Hamline University. Sustainability Conference Poster Request

The April 12 and 13 Sustainability Dialogue & Action Conference is taking applications for display posters from faculty, staff, students and community members. Share your information and research on sustainability topics like energy, agriculture, business, etc. Send a paragraph summary of the poster to by Feb. 10. Applicants will be notified of acceptance by Feb. 15. Maximum poster size is 36'' wide and 42'' high; presenters are responsible for printing their own posters.

UNI Department of Languages and Literatures proposing to offer Master of Arts in Teaching English in Secondary Schools

The Department of Languages and Literatures and Continuing and Distance Education, is proposing to offer a Master of Arts degree in Teaching English in Secondary Schools (TESS) beginning summer 2013. The program is designed primarily for Iowa middle-level and secondary teachers, and includes courses in English education pedagogy, writing practice and pedagogy, classroom research strategies/methodologies, and literature studies — with an emphasis on adolescent literature. UNIBusiness Diversity Case Competition - final round

UNIBusiness is holding its second-annual Diversity Case Competition with $5,000 in prizes at stake for winning teams (prize money will be distributed through the Office of Student Financial Aid). The UNI community is invited to attend the final round of competition starting at 4 p.m., Thursday, Jan. 31, in CBB 109. Submit your campus announcements to Inside UNI under "Submission Guidelines" on the Inside UNI site. There are two forms for Accolades and Announcements. A third form for feature story ideas and media stories will be coming soon. Submissions are reviewed daily and published based on relevancy and timeliness of the announcement and accolade.

UNI Interpreters Theatre presents 'CONVICT'

The UNI Interpreters Theatre presents "CONVICT," at 7:30 p.m., Jan. 31 through Feb. 2, in the UNI Interpreters Theatre  (040 LNG). The cast includes UNI students, faculty and students from Hawkeye Community College. "CONVICT" highlights the humanity of the prisoner and asks: "Is it time for a change?" Admission is free but seating is limited.

Live Like a Student sessions start Feb. 4

Live Like a Student sessions are back in February. These free, three-week non-credit courses allow students to explore personal budgeting, credit and credit cards, student loans and identity protection. Courses will be offered at 1 and 2 p.m., Mondays and Wednesdays, Feb. 4 through 20, in 324 LIB. Students will receive a Live Like a Student T-shirt and the chance to win a $500 scholarship. UNI's  Diversity Town Hall on Feb. 20 will showcase diversity at UNI in a new way. If you would like to share with UNI the work you are doing to make UNI a more welcoming and accepting place, send us your video!
