QUASH is coming

QUASH (Quest to Unravel Alzheimer's Scavenger Hunt) will be held Friday, April 26 with a kickoff in the West Gym. Teams of two to four members will compete all over campus in mental and physical challenges. Register at the QUASH website.

Panther Caucus - keeping tuition affordable

The Board of Regents, State of Iowa, is committed to keeping tuition affordable for Iowa students. If Iowa's public universities receive a 2.6 percent increase in state funding as well as a $4 million special appropriation for UNI, the Regents have vowed to freeze tuition for in-state undergraduate students next fall. Maintenance to SIS Applications

The following SIS systems will be unavailable for application patches from 4 to 7 a.m., Saturday, March 2: the MyUNIverse Portal, the SIS CRM application and the Campus Solutions application. This includes the online application for admissions and the online class search. A restart of the databases will be included in this update. There will be a follow-up announcement when maintenance is complete. If you have any problems or questions, contact Travis Horvatich.

Mini-grants available for Reaching for Higher Ground projects

Reaching for Higher Ground mini-grants are available to support academic year activities and programming planned around the 2013-14 theme Food Matters. The grants range from $250 to $1,000. The application deadline is March 29.

March 6 teacher education announcement

President Allen invites faculty, staff and students to join him along with Gov. Branstad and distinguished guests at 3:30 p.m., Wednesday, March 6, in the Maucker Union, Old Central Ballroom, for a special announcement and celebration of a milestone moment for teacher education at UNI. The announcement will have a significant impact on students pursuing education careers and for faculty teaching and research. Guests are encouraged to show their UNI spirit by wearing casual purple attire. A reception will follow.

Interested in law school?

The Daniel Webster Law Society will meet at 4:30 p.m., Wednesday, Feb.27, in 127, SAB. Scott Peters and Allison Martens, political science, will discuss how to prepare for law school, factors that law schools consider in admission, preparing for the LSATs and more. The UNI Wellness/Recreation Center will close at 9 p.m. tonight, Feb. 21. Friday morning, WRC opening and activities will be determined prior to 5:30 a.m. and posted on the UNI home page, UNI Wellness/Recreation Center facebook page and on the WRS Info Line, 273-2391. Health Beat will remain open until 6:30 p.m. today.

Panther Push is an outreach program where UNI students return to their high schools to give prospective students insight about life on campus. This is great practice for professional situations, looks good on a resume and gives students a chance to show their Panther pride. Students can apply for Panther Push online by Feb. 22.
