Learn about study abroad semester-long opportunities at 4 p.m., every Tuesday, behind Chats, MAU; and at 3 p.m., every Wednesday, in 009 GIL. Learn about short-term study abroad opportunities at 3 p.m., every Thursday, in 009 GIL and sessions on scholarship opportunities at 4 p.m., every Tuesday, in 007 GIL. Once you have decided where to study abroad, attend one mandatory Abroad 101 info session offered at 3 p.m., every Wednesday and Thursday, in 007 GIL.

Earth Week Photo Contest reception

All UNI faculty, staff and students are invited to attend the first annual Earth Week Photo Contest reception at 7 p.m., Tuesday, March 26, in the State Room, MAU.  Enjoy appetizers and a short photo presentation from graduate student Ben Hoksch detailing his recent kayak travels on the Mississippi River. The top 20 photos will be displayed in a gallery setting and the top three cash prize winners will be announced.

International Cultural Exchange photo contest

Enjoy taking pictures while traveling abroad? Submit photos to ice@uni.edu for a chance to win several prizes and have your photo displayed around campus. Photos should be of something that shows your passion for traveling; a favorite monument, a nature scene, an event, etc. Please include a brief description of the photo. Email your photos by March 29 (limit of three photos per person). On April 1, a photo album featuring the submissions will be posted on the UNI Study Abroad Facebook page. People can vote for their favorite photo. The top five "liked" photos will be displayed in Maucker Union for a final vote. The winner will be announced April 19.

Vol. 8 of UNIversitas now published

UNI's journal of research, scholarship and creative activity, UNIversitas, is now published. Contributions include: new research material at Rod Library, women leaders of the Rwandan genocide, MOOCs, queer adolescent literature, a digital poem and shared governance at UNI.

The UNI Sustainability Council is accepting nominations for the fourth annual UNI C.A.R.E. Awards for dedication to sustainability at UNI. Nominations will be accepted through April 8. Awards will be presented at the UNI Sustainability Conference on April 12. Submit award nominations online.

UNI Visual Identity and Style Guide modified

The UNI Visual Identity and Style Guide has been modified as a result of interviews with faculty, staff and student organizations. There are two modifications to the guide which will offer more flexibility while still maintaining UNI's identity.

QUASH is coming

Panther Caucus - keeping tuition affordable

The Board of Regents, State of Iowa, is committed to keeping tuition affordable for Iowa students. If Iowa's public universities receive a 2.6 percent increase in state funding as well as a $4 million special appropriation for UNI, the Regents have vowed to freeze tuition for in-state undergraduate students next fall. Maintenance to SIS Applications

The following SIS systems will be unavailable for application patches from 4 to 7 a.m., Saturday, March 2: the MyUNIverse Portal, the SIS CRM application and the Campus Solutions application. This includes the online application for admissions and the online class search. Mini-grants available for Reaching for Higher Ground projects

Reaching for Higher Ground mini-grants are available to support academic year activities and programming planned around the 2013-14 theme Food Matters. The grants range from $250 to $1,000. The application deadline is March 29.

March 6 teacher education announcement

President Allen invites faculty, staff and students to join him along with Gov. Branstad and distinguished guests at 3:30 p.m., Wednesday, March 6, in the Maucker Union, Old Central Ballroom, for a special announcement and celebration of a milestone moment for teacher education at UNI. The announcement will have a significant impact on students pursuing education careers and for faculty teaching and research. Guests are encouraged to show their UNI spirit by wearing casual purple attire. A reception will follow.

The Daniel Webster Law Society will meet at 4:30 p.m., Wednesday, Feb.27, in 127, SAB.
