The 2013 UNI Dance Marathon raised $101,379.02 for the University of Iowa Children's Hospital and the Children's Miracle Network, nearly double what the group raised last year.

The UNI Dance Team placed 4th in the nation among Division I teams for their jazz routine at the Universal Dance Association (UDA) Championship held at the ESPN World Wide Sports Center in Orlando, Fla. The team placed 4th for their POM routine.

UNI's Study Abroad programs were ranked No. 15 of the top 40 U.S. institutions among Master's Colleges and Universities and No. 9 of the top 20 leading institutions in the nation by participation in short-term study abroad among Master's Colleges and Universities by the 2012 Open Doors Report on International Educational Exchange. UNI was the only public university in Iowa recognized for short-term study abroad programs.

Jacqui Kalin, a graduate student in health, physical education & leisure services, from Sioux City, Iowa, has been selected as the 2013 Marty Glickman Outstanding Female Jewish Scholar Athlete of the Year by the National Jewish Sports Hall of Fame and Museum Committee. Kalin, a member of the UNI Women's Basketball team is in second place in career scoring with 1,763 points and is only 88 points shy of being the all-time leading scorer in UNI history.

Overall satisfaction with on-campus living is at its highest, according to the national Educational Benchmarking Survey conducted annually. The survey measures satisfaction with room assignments, environment, programming, safety and dining.

Allie Arp, a senior from West Liberty, Iowa received the Ron Culp Scholarship for mentoring at the national conference for the Public Relations Student Society of America (PRSSA) in San Francisco.

Eight UNI School of Music students recently received top honors in the National Association of Teachers of Singing Iowa District Student Auditions.

The American Chemical Society's Committee on Education presented the Outstanding Chapter Award for 2011-2012 activities to UNI's student chapter.

 Phil Musson, senior, management and Spanish, placed first in the speaker's competition and Joseph Minor, senior, marketing, placed second in the Pro-Am Sell-A-Thon Sales Competition at the Pi Sigma Epsilon North Central Regional Convention.

Rebecca Buel, communication studies, was awarded the 2012 American Forensic Association National Individual Events Tournament Outstanding New Forensics Coach Award. The award will be given at the national tournament in spring 2013.
