Adobe Creative Cloud campus software available

Adobe Creative Cloud Campus Licensing provides students (only in UNI computer labs), faculty and staff with Adobe software. Details are posted on the ITS website. This software is available for installation on all UNI computers. The capability for a work-at-home offering (for faculty and staff) is in the works but not yet available. Contact your IT support staff for installation.

Open forum for Alumni Relations director candidates

Five candidates have been chosen for on-campus interviews for the position of director of Alumni Relations. Each will participate in an open forum. Presentations will be from 1:15 to 2:05 p.m., on Sept. 5, 6 and 9 in the Elm Room; from 12:40 to 1:30 p.m., Sept. 12, in the Presidential Room; and 1 to 1:50 p.m., Sept. 16, in the Elm Room, MAU. Resumes for each candidate will be posted online two days prior to the presentation.

Military and Veterans Employment Fair

UNI will host a Military and Veterans Employment Fair from 1 to 4 p.m., Sept. 23, in the University Room, MAU.  Employers attending include: FBI, IBM, Wells Fargo, Nationwide, Dept. of Agriculture, Lutheran Services and more. Holocaust speaker available to speak to classes

The Campus Activities Board (CAB) will host speaker and Holocaust survivor Inge Auerbacher on Thursday, Oct. 3. Inge is available to speak in classrooms that day. UNI vs. ISU football spirit tent and tailgate

Join UNI alumni and friends and meet President Ruud at the UNI spirit tent for a tailgate from 4 to 6 p.m., Saturday, on the south side of Jack Trice Stadium, in Ames. A Panther fan rally starts at 5:15 p.m. The tent closes at 6 p.m.; kickoff is 7 p.m.

Lifelong University offers "Where Does my Food Come From?"

A Lifelong University course will cover gardening, the current food supply system, shopping local options and more. The class is from 4:30 to 7 p.m. each Wednesday in September with light suppers included. The fee is $40 and registration is limited. Fall full faculty meeting

The fall full faculty meeting will be held from 3:30 to 5 p.m., Monday, Sept. 16, in Lang Auditorium. Speakers will include Katie Mulholland, president pro-tem of the Iowa Board of Regents, President Ruud and other campus leaders. New faculty and winners of faculty awards will be recognized. All members of the university community are invited. Refreshments will be available at the conclusion of the program.

Fall reading group opportunities

The Center for Excellence in Teaching and Learning (CETL) and the NCBI Campus Coalition Builders will offer three facilitated reading groups for faculty, staff and students on books that explore issues of diversity and inclusion. Library hours for Labor Day weekend

There will be no special vacation loans during Labor Day weekend. Patrons may check out materials and enter the building until 10 minutes to closing time, at which time service desks close and the doors are locked. Library online resources are available 24/7; if off campus, you will get a prompt to enter your CatID.

UNI Local Food Box Program starts

UNI's Local Food Box program is an opportunity for UNI employees to purchase healthy, local food. Boxes will be delivered between 4:30 and 5:30 p.m., every Friday, in GIL 007. Web server access change

Beginning Aug. 22, CatID authentication can be used to access personal Web accounts on Sunny, wwwstage and wwwdev servers via SSH or SFTP. Current users will be auto-provisioned for CatID access. Departmental accounts will not change at this time. New users wanting access to the Web servers may fill out a request online. An FAQ is posted online.

C-SPAN bus coming to Waterloo

The C-SPAN bus, a 45-foot interactive multimedia learning center that brings C-SPAN coverage of public affairs to communities, will visit Iowa this week. This is the only C-SPAN bus visit to Iowa in 2013. Tour the bus from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., Friday, Aug. 23, at the corner of East 4th and Sycamore streets in downtown Waterloo.
