Representations of Women in Comics

Rod Library will host a panel discussion, Representations of Women in Comics: How Women are Drawn, Dressed, Desired & Discarded, at 3 p.m., Wednesday, March 12, in 324 LIB. The panel will explore the place of women in comics, from how their bodies are represented to their role in the story line.

Chronic Disease Management Program

"Better Choices, Better Health" is available to UNI employees through the Northeast Iowa Area Agency on Aging. This is a six-week program for persons living with chronic health conditions and their caregivers. Attend an information session from 3 to 4 p.m., Thursday, March 6, in the Elm Room, MAU. UNI SHRM fundraiser - March 6

The UNI Society for Human Resource Management will host a fundraiser from 7 to 11 p.m., Thursday, March 6, at the Screaming Eagle Bar and Grill in Waterloo. There will be a raffle and an acoustic band. Light appetizers will be provided. Purchase tickets from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., Feb. 27, in Maucker Union for $5 or at the door for $8.

Lecture on low-energy nuclear reactions

Tom Wind, DNR officer, will discuss Low Energy Nuclear Reactions (LENR) at 7 p.m., Monday, March 10, in the CEEE Auditorium. LENR allows controlled fusion of hydrogen into helium in small modular reactors that can fit on a tabletop.

Game Show - Women in History: What do you know?

As part of Women's History Month, the Feminist Action League will host a game show, "Women in History: What do you know?" at 7 p.m., Monday, March 10, in the State College Room, MAU. Participants will divide into teams and answer multiple-choice questions about various women in history. Winners will receive a prize.

'The Lord is Not on Trial Here Today'

There will be a screening and discussion of the film "The Lord is Not on Trial Here Today" at noon, Tuesday, March 4, and at 7 p.m., Thursday, March 6, in the CME. This film is the story of a mother's efforts to protect her son, which led to the case that established the separation of church and state in public schools.

Panther's Annual World Wide Scavenger Hunt (PAWWSH) is a new student organization that performs random acts of kindness throughout the Cedar Valley. The group will conduct a scavenger hunt for teams of up to 10 people March 6 through 10. The team that finds the most items and has the most points will win $1,000. Plastic bag exchange

The UNI Office of Sustainability will host a plastic bag exchange between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m., Thursday, Feb. 27, in Maucker Union (by Chats). Exchange five plastic bags for a reusable UNI bag. This is an easy way to be environmentally friendly.
