Live Healthy Iowa Burst Your Thirst Challenge

UNI employees are invited to participate in the Live Healthy Iowa Burst Your Thirst Challenge. Teams track water consumption and activity minutes. UNI-NCBI Lunch 'n Learn

An opportunity to learn a unique, effective approach for responding to offensive behaviors or comments in the workplace or personal life will be offered from noon to 1 p.m., Wednesday, May 28, in the Presidential Room, MAU. RHG mini-grant deadline is June 2

Reaching for Higher Ground (RHG) mini-grants up to $1,000 are available to support academic year activities and programming planned around the 2014-15 theme Media & Social Media: A Networked Society. Apply and find more information online. The application deadline for the initial round of mini-grants is Monday, June 2; applicants will be notified by June 16. Pending available funding, there may be another round of mini-grants awarded in late fall.

UNI Multimodal Transportation Center closing for service

The UNI Multimodal Transportation Center (MMTC) upper deck will be closed for service starting Wednesday, May 14. The lower deck will be available for parking. On Thursday, May 15, all levels of the MMTC will be closed and will reopen on Monday, May 19. The hard surface lot to the north of the parking deck will remain open at all times.

The UNI eBusiness Suite will not be available from 6 p.m., Friday, May 9 to 7 a.m., Monday, May 12. This outage includes eBusiness self service and time cards. Webfocus and Discoverer reports will be available but will not be updated until Monday.

If you know student employees not enrolled for summer who are working on campus and want the ability to charge to their university bill, email their name, university ID number and summer campus affiliation to diningtech@uni.edu. Otherwise, only enrolled students have the charge privilege.

Effective May 13, the Inside UNI for Faculty & Staff newsletters will be emailed just once per week. The twice per-week schedule will resume Aug. 19. There is no Inside UNI for students during the summer. Announcements will continue to be updated as needed on the Inside UNI website.

Biometric Health Screening

UNI Employee Wellness will offer a free Biometric Health Screening to all employees from 7 to 8:45 a.m., Friday, May 16, in 007 GIL. This screening determines your overall health and assesses your risk for medical conditions. Register online before Thursday, May 8. All employees who attend will be entered to win a Sonicare toothbrush.

Baker Hall update

Starting May 12, the construction area will be expanded to include work on the water line in the street south of the site, work on the sidewalk near Wright Hall and the Botanical Center and between Wright and Rod Library. Take Back the Night

Take Back the Night will take place at 6:30 p.m., Tuesday, April 29, in 115 SRL. There will be a panel discussion with Harry Brod, sociology, criminology and anthropology, and Joan Thompson, sexual assault advocate and health educator, about how to end sexual assault. Two sexual assault survivors will also tell their stories. A march and rally at the Campanile will follow.

Rod Library campus book drive continues

Rod Library has collected hundreds of books to raise funds for Room to Read, an organization focused on increasing literacy rates around the world. Because the book drive was so successful, Rod Library is extending the deadline to May 12. Drop books off in the green cardboard bin in the library's lobby.

Faculty 12-month pay option

Faculty may be paid for their continuing non-temporary academic year appointment in 10 or 12 equal installments beginning with the Aug. 29 or July 31 payroll, respectively. Faculty members must complete a Pay Frequency Change form to change their salary payments. Send the form to OBO-Payroll, mail code 0008, by May 15. QUASH on Friday!
