A Regents Award for Staff Excellence is presented to supervisory and confidential employees who have made outstanding contributions to UNI. Annual graduate faculty meeting

The annual graduate faculty meeting will be at 3 p.m., Wednesday, April 8, in 115 SRL. Awards will be presented to graduate students and faculty. Visiting artist Victoria Christen workshop April 2 and 3

Victoria Christen will give demonstrations of how she makes her ceramic artwork from 9:30 a.m. to noon and 2 to 4:45 p.m., Thursday, April 2 and from 10 a.m. to noon and 2 to 4:45 p.m., Friday, April 3, in the Ceramics Lab, Room 126 in KAM. She will lecture about her artwork at 7 p.m., Thursday, April 2 and about her life as a potter at 9 a.m., Friday, April 3. Both lectures are in the Art Auditorium, Room 111 KAM.

International Dance Theatre spring performance

The UNI International Dance Theatre will present its annual spring show at 7:30 p.m., Saturday, April 18 and at 1 p.m., Sunday, April 19, in Davis Hall, GBPAC. Experience the world through multicultural, folk and ballroom dance styles as well as contemporary, jazz and tap. This show is appropriate for all ages. In compliance with the Lobbying Disclosure Act of 1995 and the Honest and Open Government Act of 2007, UNI files quarterly reports on specific lobbying issues and the expenses incurred in lobbying. The university's policy on Federal and State Lobbying and Political Activity can be found in the Policies and Procedures Manual at 10.09. Reports must be filed each quarter. ETS job shadowing

The UNI Educational Talent Search Program (ETS) is providing Waterloo middle school students with a job shadowing experience from 10 a.m. to noon, Thursday, April 9 and April 20. Two students will be matched with a faculty or staff member and will have lunch in one of the dining centers. The students will be required to complete a questionnaire with career-related information, such as working conditions, educational background and employment trends. University Book and Supply Outstanding Teaching Awards

The winners of the University Book and Supply Outstanding Teaching Awards for 2015 are John Wiles (CHAS/School of Music); Matthew Webb (CHAS/Mathematics); Nicole Skaar (COE/Educational Psychology & Foundations); and John Burnight (CHAS/Philosophy & World Religions). The UBS Outstanding Teaching Award honors pre-tenure faculty members who have shown significant contributions to the quality of teaching. The winners will be honored with a reception from 3:30 to 5 p.m., Wednesday, March 25, in the Commons Lounge and Porch.

Excellence in Liberal Arts Core Teaching Award

Nominations for the Excellence in Liberal Arts Core Teaching Award are due by Wednesday, March 25. The criteria and selection procedures are posted online. Violent Incident Defense Strategies (V.I.D.S.) training

Making safe decisions

Student Wellness Services, UNI Public Safety and local and state law enforcement will offer a fun and educational event from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., Thursday, March 12, in the Hemisphere Lounge, MAU. Activities include: life-size drinking and driving simulator; alcohol goggle simulations with golf, water pong; alcohol poisoning case study; and information and resources from a variety of areas on and off campus. Memorials for Glen Henry

Glen Henry was an associate professor for 38 years at UNI in Health, Physical Education and Leisure Services. He also coached football and swimming. Book drive tallies 680 children's books

The UNI United Way committee thanks faculty, staff and students who donated 680 children's books during the recent book drive on campus. Books will be donated to Cedar Valley children who don't have access to age-appropriate books at home.
