UNI junior Eva Andersen's video "Perfectly Abled" took top honors in the 2010 Iowa Motion Picture Awards Student Production-College Documentary category. The documentary, about Ashley Anderson, a UNI student with a lifelong disability, received the first place award of excellence. The awards ceremony was held May 1, 2010 in Des Moines.
Andersen was very excited about her video's success in the awards competition. "I was completely thrilled! It was so cool because it was like the Oscars, because for each category, they announced the name and a clip of the movie played on screen."
Andersen, who will be spending her summer vacation at an internship in Los Angeles with the television show Entertainment Tonight, said the experience at the awards also gave her a great chance to network. "There were lots of people, including the admissions director for the Cinematic Studies graduate program at UCLA. I met her afterwards and we're going to do coffee when I get to LA!"
