UNI employee learns of issue, crisis or emergency

               
Employee calls appropriate office, vice president or director (Public Safety, Physical Plant, Dept. of Residence, etc.)

Office, vice president, director, calls University Marketing & Public Relations. Situation is discussed.

Action and communication decisions are made.

University Marketing & Public Relations:

  • Helps establish communication center, if appropriate
  • Informs president, Cabinet, Board of Regents (if appropriate), affected department/college via e-mail (by phone if urgent)
  • Confirms that Educational & Student Services is notified of incidents involving students
  • Informs media, if appropriate
  • Updates UNI home page, if appropriate
  • Coordinates with ITS for campus-wide e-mail, if appropriate•Communicates action/follow-up back to Cabinet

Cabinet members:

  • Ensure proper action is taken in their divisions
  • Communicate action/follow-up back to Cabinet and UM&PR person handling the situation
