Statewide Research & Development School Appointments

Transition Team (2009-2010)

The Department of Education Director and the University of Northern Iowa President will convene a transition team for the 2009-2010 academic year that was responsible for developing and implementing specific transition plans.

 

Advisory Council

The Department of Education Director and the University of Northern Iowa President will establish a 17-member advisory council that will review and evaluate the educational processes and results of the school. This council will provide an annual report to the President of UNI, the Director of the Department of Education, the Board of Regents, State of Iowa, the State Board of Education and the General Assembly. The members of the advisory council will be made available on this Web site once announced.

 

Strategic Planning Committee (2010-2011)

UNI College of Education Dean will lead this committee in collaboration with the Department of Education, Iowa State University, University of Iowa, private colleges, AEA's, public schools and business partners on statewide strategic planning for the R&D School.  This committee will prepare a comprehensive plan for the statewide school that will be shared with the 17-member Advisory Council during the 2010-2011 academic year.

 

Standing Institutional Research Committee

The Department of Education Director and the University of Northern Iowa President will charge the 11-member Standing Institutional Research Committee (SIRC) with setting and evaluating the research focus for the R&D school to meet the changing needs of Iowa’s educational system. This may include a range of research activities from developing and testing new instructional strategies to evaluating applications of research-based practices in typical classroom settings or developing curriculum and professional development resources.
